Gift

I've been to a few weddings this summer and have made a habit of giving typographic pieces as gifts. Some of my dear friends were wed this weekend, and this is what I crafted for them:

Landy Scapy

Sorry for the radio silence everyone, but between final grades, some super-secret projects, and (*gasp*) a bit of vacation time, I haven't had much to show these past couple of weeks. That said, I did do a bit of a landscape, but am still working the digital love (SOOOOO many masks). Here is the original drawing, I will post the final image upon it's completion (look for it later this week, if there is nothing by Friday, begin the angry mail).

I wanted to work within a very limited pallet, but still maintain interesting color relationships. It was a good time.

For the next post I may do a process breakdown, but don't hold me to it.

Thruk's Day Off

One of the things that I am finding most exciting about working digitally for a major chunk of these projects is the ability to experiment heavily with color and value with relative ease. Case in point is Thruk here; I would almost never work in this sort of pallet. I think it works though.

Thruk was thrilled to have a day away from the dungeon.

The Mycoplasm

Here's a little something I worked up in my down-time over the past couple days. I plan on painting it digitally; we'll see how it goes.

He's a cute fungal ooze from the greatest depths of the Underdark. He enjoys long crawls down the stalactites towards unsuspecting adventurers, asexual reproduction through both sporing and fission, and ladies, he's single! Let's have a round of applause for the Mycoplasm!

7 days, finally complete.

This has been on the back burner for a couple of weeks, but I finally got around to finishing it up.

I had a lot of fun with it, and am pretty happy with the final result. My favorite part? This little confrontation:

6 Days, 50%

A commission to do the 6 days of biblical creation in on my plate right now, and while it isn't exactly my top choice for subject, it's turning out to be really fun. It's half done now, and I am really excited to get it done.

Here's the first half:

I decided to go with a sequencial page layout for it. The top chunk covers the creation of spaces, and the bottom bit will be the filling of those spaces, grabbing visual elements from spaces illustrations. I'll post the final in the next couple of days.

One more of the Zola commissions. An octopus in snowshoes.

Another big thanks to everyone that helped out. We ended up raising just over one thousand dollars, and most of that in the first forty-eight hours. Zola went home last friday, and is doing well. I haven't yet seen her since she got out, but will be sure to take some pictures when I do.
